Fortunately, my finger does not have an avulsion fracture–at least not a bad one. The orthopedic surgeon said the bone fragment is so thin, it’s nothing to worry about (though “bone fragment” and “nothing to worry about” don’t really seem to go together). I mostly injured the tendon/ligaments, and instead of splinting it the way I have been, I need to just tape the finger up and bend it as much as possible so when the ligaments heal, they’re not stiff and unmovable. (Easier said than done–it hurts.) To celebrate the good prognosis, Tuesday night I got wine and an at-home pedicure, and Maizie got treats and…Felix I guess.
